Part Two: Centres and Site Allocations (Regulation 19)
Policy DLPLGS1 Corbett Meadow Local Green Space
Representation ID: 1074
Received: 29/11/2024
Respondent: Amblecote History Society
The Chairman of the Amblecote History Society strongly supports the proposed designations for Corbett Meadow in the Dudley Local Plan (October 2024). The key points are:
Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC): Corbett Meadow’s rare natural habitats, especially within a built-up area and connected to the Coalbourne Brook Valley, make it a significant ecological site.
Area of High Historic Landscape Value (AHHLV): The meadow's historical significance, including its connection to local industrialists and landmarks such as St. Michael’s Church and Red House Cone, supports its designation as a site of high historic value.
Local Green Space (LGS): The meadow, a legacy of philanthropist John Corbett, should remain as a Local Green Space for nature conservation, education, and public health. Selling it to developers would risk losing this important community asset.
In conclusion, the Amblecote History Society fully supports the meadow’s designation as SINC, AHHLV, and LGS within the Dudley Local Plan.
